The fibers are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. Two parallel FRP are placed at the two sides. The cable is completed with a polyethylene (PE) sheath.
Aerial installation
Metallic Armors: Stainless Steel Tape protects against rodent and bird damage, offering a robust shield against mechanical damage. Steel wires provide added protection, especially against rodents and external physical impacts.
Non-Metallic Armors: FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) provides protection against rodent and bird attacks while being lightweight and corrosion-resistant. Glass yarn offers additional rodent protection while maintaining flexibility.
Chemical Methods: Spicy additives in cable insulation deter rodents and termites by creating an unpleasant environment for these pests.
